Daniel turned Professional in 2011 spending the year playing on mini Tours in Europe. Returning to Australia at the end of the year Daniel won the PGA Tour of Australasia's 2012 Qualifying School. His first year on Tour saw mixed results before he recorded his break through victory in the last event of the season the Australian PGA Championship. Thanks to his win Popovic earned starts in two WGC events and also spent time playing in Europe. He struggled on his home Tour making just one cut in six starts for the 2013 season.
Making the tough decision to attend European Tour Qualifying School, Popovic missed defending his Australian PGA Championship title. He was then forced to withdraw from Qualifying School due to food poisoning. In 2014 Popovic has been hampered by a reccuring back injury.
- Won the Australian PGA Championship in his Rookie year on the PGA Tour of Australasia. He won the tournament wire to wire.
- Spent 2013 training with his favourite AFL team the Kangaroos.
