Cameron started his career with back to back victories at the Tasmanian Open in 1997 and 1998 before joining the Tour in 1999. After a few years he found success again at the 2006 Victorian PGA Championship. In 2009 he had a good year, finishing 8th on the Nationwide Tour money list, earning him his PGA Tour card for 2010. He also brought his good form home with him to the PGA Tour of Australasia with top-10 finishes at the Vic Open, Vic PGA, Australian Masters and the Australian Open.

In 2010, Cameron had his first top-10 finish on the PGA TOUR at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open when he lost in a playoff on the fourth extra hole after his opponent, Jonathon Byrd, made a hole-in-one. 2011 saw Percy with conditional status on the PGA TOUR where he played 12 tournaments making the cut in seven and recording one top-10 finish however this was not enough to see him retain his card. In 2012 Cameron returned to the Tour where he recorded three runner-up finishes and a further two top-10 finishes. Despite not winning a tournament Cameron finished 13th on the Tour moneylist which saw him return to the PGA TOUR in 2013.

Playing 21 events in 2013 Cameron made the cut in 13 with his best finish being a T14 at the Puerto Rico Open. In 2014 Cameron is again playing on the Tour.
