Peter joined the PGA Tour of Australasia in 1989 before focusing his attention on the European Tour in 1991 and 1992. Sidelined with injury in 1993 and 1994 and having completed the PGA Trainee Program Peter worked as the Club Professional at Oatlands Golf Club for three years.
Making a return to tournament golf in 1996 he went on the notch his first professional victory on the PGA Tour of Australasia in 1997, in doing so claiming the 96/97 Order of Merit. He returned to the European Tour where competed steadily until 2002 when he joined the PGA TOUR. He recorded his breakthrough victory in America at the 2005 MCI Heritage. In recent years Peter has been plagued with injuries and in 2009 he failed to retin his PGA TOUR card. He played his two events on the Web.com Tour in 2010 and did not play on the main Tour at all.
In 2011 he managed to record a top-10 finish in just two starts on the PGA TOUR but spent most of his time on the Web.com Tour where he made nine cuts in 14 starts. One top-10 finish was enough for Peter to have status on the Web.com Tour in 2012. Playing 23 events in 2012 Peter recorded only one top-10 finish securing status for 2013. Making just eight cuts in 2013 Peter has limited status on the Web.com Tour in 2014.
- Played on the International Team in The Presidents Cup in 2003 and 2005.
- Represented Australia at the WGC World Cup of golf in 2005.
