Born in Oyster Bay, Sydney Matt Jones moved to the United States to attend Arizona State University in 1998 in which he was a first team All-American.
Following a successful collegiate career, Matt turned Pro in 2001. It wasn't until 2004 that Matt had full status on the Web.com Tour (then known as the Nationwide Tour) with his breakout season coming in 2007 when he finished 7th on the money list. In his first year on PGA Tour, Matt's highlights would include a 4th placed finish in the Honda Classic and the Buick Open in 2001. In 2009 Matt graduated to the PGA TOUR where he has played ever since. His break through win came at the 2014 Shell Houston Open where he beat Matt Kuchar on the first playoff hole. A win at The Shell Houston Open made Matthew the last guaranteed entrant into the 2014 Masters.
Matt has only played limited tournaments on the PGA Tour of Australasia during his time as a Pro but broke through for his first win on home soil at his home club, The Australian, when he won the 2015 Emirates Australian Open on the PGA Tour of Australasia, He qualified for the 2016 Open Championship at Royal Troon in Scotland.
