Born in South Korea, Jin Jeong moved to Australia in 2006 where he trained at the Waverley Golf Club. Although he lives in Australia Jeong still proudly competes for him home country. A hugely successful amateur Jeong had two stints as the world number one as well as winning The Amateur Championship which earned him a place in the 2010 Open Championship where he finished inside the top-20 in his first major and leading amateur.

Joining the PGA Tour of Australasia in 2011 Jeong recorded two top-20 finishes in his first season. In 2012 signs of Jeongs prodigious talent have started to show through with a T7 finish at the Victorian PGA Championship and a 5th at the NZ PGA Pro-Am Championship where in the second round he equalled The Hills course record with a 10-under 62. Jeong's first Professional victory came at the Perth International. Co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and European Tour, Jeong earned full status on the European Tour.

He had previously competed on the European Challenge Tour. Finishing runner-up at the Joburg Open, Jin qualified for the 2014 Open Championship. This will be his second Open but first as a Professional.

Only played a handful of tournaments in 2017 on the Tour of Australasia.

  • Won the 2010 Tasmanian Open as an amateur, finished T14 and leading Amateur at The Open Championship (only amateur to make the cut).
  • In 2010 was twice ranked the Number 1 amateur in the world. Was the first Asian player to win The Amateur Championship.
  • In 2012 Jeong equaled The Hills course record, 10-under 62, during the second round of the NZ PGA Pro-Am Championship.
  • In 2014 qualified for The Open Championship by finishing T2 at the Joburg Open.
