The Ladbrokes Legends Tour traveled to Forbes Golf Club in Central West NSW on Friday, where 32 PGA Professionals contested the third staging of the event.

""Players were greeted to cool yet calm conditions on the par-72 layout and it was the in-form Martin Peterson from Bega who set the early clubhouse lead with 1-under 71. He was joined shortly after by Young Golf Club Head Professional, Bryce Mawhinney (71) and Victorian, John Onions (71).

All three players had an anxious wait to see if their scores would hold up against the later groups including 2017 Champion, Steve Conran (74).

Fortunately for the trio, they managed to secure the one-shot victory, with New South Welshman, Grant Kenny finishing a close runner-up with an even-par 72.

Peterson and Onions have been regular winners on the Ladbrokes Legends Tour this year however it was an exciting day for local club Professional, Bryce Mawhinney who notched his first ever win on the Legends circuit.

"The tight fairways and small greens provide a real test and a sharp short game is key to low scoring. Fortunately my wedge game and putting was on song today and I made a lot of clutch putts to keep maintain momentum and keep my round going," said Mawhinney.

Peterson and Onions acknowledged the quality of the putting greens, saying they are some of the best greens they’ve putted on this year.

The Ladbrokes Legends Tour takes a short break over the coming weeks before heading to warmer weather for the Fiji Legends Classic at Natadola Bay Championship Course in late June.
