Hook lands big win at Castle Hill

Pacific Dunes Professional Jamie Hook has landed his biggest win taking out the Cranbrook Residences Pro-Am at Castle Hill Country Club.

Pacific Dunes Professional Jamie Hook has landed his biggest win taking out the Cranbrook Residences Pro-Am at Castle Hill Country Club.

""Even though Hook is considered a part-timer he was able to take down the more fancied players with a Pro-Am victory.

Starting the day one shot behind the local favourite Alex Edge, Hook would have plenty to do with a cast of tour players hot on his heels.

The Castle Hill layout is currently undergoing changes and the new look golf course was posing quite a challenge to all players.

Many players were using the event as a warm-up for the Victorian PGA Championship and all eyes were on players like Edge, Matthew Millar and Aaron Townsend but it was Hook with rounds of 65 and 67 for a 4-under 132 total that would take victory by a shot.

With the quality of talent in the field, it was even more impressive that Hook was the only player to shoot under par for both days of the tournament.

“Everyone seemed to be finding the new look layout difficult to navigate. The course was in great condition but we’ve been so used to the other course sometimes it’s hard to adjust," said Hook.

"I’ve been playing this event for five years now and they do a great job. It’s one of the best we get to play in all year and I’m very happy to win here," Said Hook.

Finishing one shot behind Hook and sharing runner-up was Matthew Millar and Andrew Evans on 3-under 133. Both gentlemen hope their form will continue later in the week when they tee it up Victorian PGA at RACV Cape Schanck Resort.

A further shot behind was Scott Arnold on 2-under 134. Rounding out the top five were two local players including the overnight leader Alex Edge who was joined by Trent Smith finishing on even par 136.
