Dive tames tough Queanbeyan course

The Queanbeyan Golf Course again proved tough to tame in the 2018 Guns’n’Hoses Carwash Queanbeyan Ladbrokes Pro-Am.

The Queanbeyan Golf Course again proved tough to tame in the 2018 Guns’n’Hoses Carwash Queanbeyan Ladbrokes Pro-Am.

""On the challenging layout, experience plays a vital role to success so it was no surprise to see Martin Dive, who has been victorious around the Queanbeyan layout before, take victory with a round of 5-under 65.

Dive played the majority of 2017 on the Asian Development Tour and recorded his first big victory at the PGM CCM Seriemas Championship in Malaysia.

“I played really well today. I enjoy the golf course and love playing on these greens. I got off to a great start and was 7-under through 12 holes but just couldn’t keep it going,” said Dive.

“I’m really happy with the win and it will give me confidence when I head back to Asia in a couple of weeks.”

Local favourite Matthew Millar recovered from a double bogey, bogey start to finish runner-up on 2-under 68.

The only other player to break par and finish outright third was Brad McIntosh at 1-under 69.

Rounding out the top-5 was Andrew Welsford with an even par 70 and Michael Long, Aaron Townsend, Leigh McKechnie and Ethan Shanahan at 1-over 71.

The Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series heads to Yowani on Thursday.
