The Headland Golf Club today hosted the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series for the Property Today & Innovative Planning Solutions Headland Pro-Am, with the event making a welcomed return to the schedule following a two year absence and has attracted one of the strongest fields to date.

""Chris Wood has shot a fantastic round of 6-under par 66 this morning in heavy on course conditions to claim victory by one shot over the field and his first win on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series for 2019.

“I played solid golf and just kept the ball in play out there today”, said Wood.

“I made some good par saving putts when I really needed to make them. I had great stretch midway through the round where I made an eagle and three birdies, this allowed me to maintain the momentum to finish well”.

Finishing in second position were professionals Charlie Dann and Braden Becker who both recorded rounds of 5-under par 67.

“I just played steady golf today for a bogey free round, which is always pleasing”, said Dann.

“It was my first time playing here at the Headland Golf Club”, said Becker. “It’s a course where you need to manage your game well and make the most of your opportunities”.

The next best placed professionals were Ben Stowe and Andrew Dodt finishing with rounds of 4-under par 68.

Headland Golf Club today led the way in hosting a #DoingItForJarrod day, which will be the first of many to be held nationally over the next two months. The #DoingItForJarrod days are an initiative between Challenge and the Australian golf community to ask golf clubs around Australia to dedicate one day to the memory of Jarrod Lyle to help raise import funds for Challenge, supporting kids living with cancer. All funds raised through #DoingItForJarrod will go towards Jarrod’s Gift, the goal of helping Challenge provide practical support throughout a child’s cancer journey.

In hosting the day, Headland Golf Club was a sea of yellow with 71 professionals and 150 amateur golfers donning various elements of yellow in a show of support for Challenge.

The next stop on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series is the Maroochy River Golf Club where play begins at 7.00am tomorrow morning for the Maroochy River Pro-Am.
