Braden Becker has returned to the winner’s list at the SunRice Leeton Pro-Am in the opening tournament of the NSW/ACT swing of the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series.
Kicking off a run of four events in the region, Becker fired rounds of 64 and 62 for an incredible final total of 18-under 126, the best seen at the pro-am in over 25 years.
A strong field gathered for the two day event where a trio of players found themselves on top of the leaderboard heading into the final round.
Becker, James Nitties and Tim Hart were the ones to beat following the first round standing two shots clear of the rest of the field.
Early in the final round, Becker and Hart turned the tournament into a two horse race, gaining a clear lead over Nitties.
Playing shot-for-shot right until the final hole, a bogey from Hart halted his challenge and saw the victory go to Becker with an outstanding final round score of 10-under 62.
“It was crazy out there,” said Becker. “I could see Tim making a heap of birdies and I knew I had to do the same.
“I’m really glad to hit some good form after a frustrating start to the year missing multiple cuts on the main tour by one or two shots.”
Hart who had put up some amazing numbers of his own finished two shots behind Becker with two rounds of 64 for a 16-under 128 total.
Joint overnight leader James Nitties held on for a third place finish with 12-under 132.
Rounding out the top-5 were Simon Hawkes, Jack Wilson, Andrew Schonwille and Matthew Stieger.
