The final round of the Victorian PGA 4BBB Handicap Matchplay was held at Spring Valley Golf Club in what could only be described as perfect golfing conditions and set the scene for Kris Mueck and Ryan Lynch to take out the 23 team tournament.
Held over a number of golf clubs since June earlier this year, the Knockout wrapped up on Monday as Lynch and Mueck were victorious over Euan Walters and Darren Carroll in the final, 3&1.
“It was a pretty up and down final match, Ryan and I certainly had our work cut out for us against the boys,” Mueck said.
He and Lynch went through the turn 1up, then pulled away further winning the 10th to go 2up, Walters & Carroll soon squared back up with wins on 11th and 13th, setting up a tight finish.
With luck on their side Mueck & Lynch managed to win three consecutive holes and close the match out on the 17th 3&1.
“It was a fun day and a very enjoyable event, and we were thrilled to get over the line and look forward to the event next year,” Mueck added.
“Thank you to all the venues who hosted us throughout the year.”
