Callan O'Reilly has taken a commanding lead in Tahiti after a third round 8-under 64 and finds himself six shots ahead of Daniel Pearce who after a 3-under 69 round three holds second place.

O'Reilly's 54 hole total of 19-under sets a new record in the Tahiti Open and the New South Wales young gun has his sights set on a tournament record come Sunday afternoon.

"Today was a fun day. I made some putts and my chipping was spot on so I never really felt like I was going to make a bogey," said O'Reilly who hails from the NSW Central Coast.

O'Reilly did make a bogey on the par-4 sixth hole, but five birdies on his outward nine helped him to a 4-under 32 on the front side which he repeated on his back nine and capped off by a birdie on his final hole.

'I have a big lead but there are some great players like Daniel and Edward Stedman close behind so I need to keep the foot down and keep making birdie," added O'Reilly.

O'Reilly who will tee off at 10:40am tomorrow alongside Pearce and Andrew Kirkman from Port Macquarie who carded his third consecutive 4-under 68 to find himself at 12-under and seven shots off the lead.

The halfway leader, Charles Wright, was unable to maintain his red hot start and a third round 1-over 73 droped the 24-year-old to 11-under and out of contention.

The final round commences at 9:00am from tees one and ten.

Entry is free at the Atimaono Golf Course, which is situated about 45 minutes drive from Papeete.

The final round will be streamed live.
