Moreton Bay Regional Council Spokesperson for Parks, Recreation and Sport Koliana Winchester said the council was thrilled to welcome some of Australia’s finest PGA Legends, as the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour swings into the region next month.

“Here in Moreton Bay we’ve got a strong sporting culture and active, outdoor lifestyle, and I have no doubt our community will join me in welcoming the Ladbrokes Legends Tour to Bribie Island in August,” she said.

“Being healthy and active is what we pride ourselves on and it’s also the reason why we’re investing more than $34 million this financial year into parks, recreation infrastructure and facilities to give our community more reasons to get out and about and moving.

“I encourage the community to take a break and head out to Bribie for this fantastic competition.”

Councillor for Division 1 Brooke Savige said Bribie Island was one of the most picturesque spots in the region – fitting to hold the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour.

“While in town make sure to visit Bribe Island Seaside Museum or head to one of our beautiful beaches like Woorim or the stunning Bribie Island National Park,” she said.

“You’ll be spoilt for choice because there’s just so much to see and do.”

The PGA of Australia has seen significant growth in the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour both in the number of events and the prestige of hosting such tournaments and PGA of Australia State Manager – QLD/NT Broc Greenhalgh is looking forward to the PGA Professionals putting on a golfing spectacle.

“We are proud of the experience that the Ladbrokes Legends Tour offers the golfing public of the Moreton Bay Region and given the synergies between the demographics of both amateurs and professionals in these events, the PGA Legends Tour is a perfect fit,” said Greenhalgh.

“Over recent years Bribie Island and Pacific Harbour Legends Pro-Ams have been some of the most anticipated tournaments due to the region’s wonderful climate and exceptional hospitality. The ability for these events to attract world-class fields and a significant number of interstate visitors to the region provides a great platform for economic growth and further profiles the Moreton Bay Region as a golfing destination.”

Celebrating its 50th year, Bribie Island Golf Club is looking forward to its second year hosting a Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour event with some big names likely to commit.

“We are lucky to receive a large amount of support from the PGA Professionals and having recently had Rodger Davis here to help celebrate our milestone year, it is great to hear that he will be joining the likes of Michael Harwood, Terry Price and many others to at our event this year,” said Bribie Island Golf Club General Manager Steve Middleton

For Pacific Harbour, it is renowned as being one of the premier facilities in the state and General Manager Will Keiler is looking forward to again providing a test to the PGA Professionals.

“We pride ourselves on our golf course and the challenge it presents our guests, and we have been very impressed with the level of play from the PGA Professionals over the last three years including last year’s winner Richard Backwell who shot 3-under par 69 to win by just one shot,” said Keiler.
