The third and final round of the Shepparton BMW Victorian Senior Open got underway this morning in ideal conditions on the immaculately presented River Course at Yarrawonga Mulwala Resort.

""The smart money was on one of the top-6 players but Ladbrokes Legends Tour rookie Ben Jackson made a charge.

He missed a 10-foot putt on the 8th green that would have taken him to 5-under for the round, but he eventually finished even par for the tournament and tied for fifth.

Martin Pettigrew of New Zealand was also heating up making four straight birdies to make the turn in5-under 31.

A bogey on the 12th hole brought him back to the field but he finished with birdies on the 17th and 18th holes for a 6-under 66 to complete the tournament at 5-under the card. This gave him the win  by two from Richard Backwell who finished at 5-under 67.

Defending champion Peter Senior was a further two shots back to be tied 3rd with Terry Price.

All players praised the three courses with fairways and greens playing as well as any on Tour.

The Ladbrokes Legends Tour moves to New Zealand next week where Pettigrew will be the favourite on home soil.
