Richard Gilkey and David Fearns have won The Keybiz Group Mt Warren Park Legends Pro-Am with rounds of 4-under 68 over a field of 52 Professionals.
Mt Warren Park Golf Course produced possibly the best greens of the current season to see Gilkey and Fearns take a three-shot win over the Ladbrokes Legends Tour field in perfect Queensland conditions.
The pair fired nearly identical rounds after teeing off in the afternoon with six birdies and a bogey each on the par-3 10th hole – the Tony Holland Challenge hole – on their scorecards.
“I had two runs of three birdies in a row and that’s what kept my game going,” Fearns said.
“The course was absolutely fantastic today and it’s a credit to all involved.”
Shane O’Brien took advantage of calm morning conditions to card four birdies and three bogeys to tie for third place on 1-under 71.
David Merriman, Tim Elliot, Richard Backwell and Shaquill Mongol also recorded rounds of 1-under the card for third place.
PGA of Australia Chairman Rodger Davis was among the senior Professionals in the field, recording a round of 1-over 73 to win the Super Senior section.
