Burns tops Legends Tour money list

Brad Burns ended his 2017 season as the top prize money earner on the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour to claim the Order of Merit title.

Brad Burns ended his 2017 season as the top prize money earner on the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour to claim the Order of Merit title.

""It all came down to the last event of the 2017 season with Burns leading Peter Senior by only $300 while Tim Elliott, last year’s winner, was a further $500 behind.

With Peter Senior not playing the last tournament it was down to Burns and Elliott who played together at the inaugural Maleny Ladbrokes Legends Pro-Am.

Elliot who really needed to win was unable to find the form that has won him two Order of Merit titles, only managing a 2-over par round of 72. Burns also not on top of his game coasted in with a round of 1-over 71 which was good enough to keep him on top.

Burns kick started his season with two wins in the South Pacific taking out both the Samoa Senior Open and the Fiji Legends Classic. A further six wins in Australia saw the 2016 Legends Rookie of the Year become the Order of Merit champion.

Finishing the season as number one gives Burns a start at the Insperity Invitational in May, a US$2,000,000 event played at Woodland Country Club Houston Texas.

It will be his first venture onto the US PGA TOUR Champions and all Ladbrokes Legends Tour players will be following his progress with interest.

The Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour had 66 events in 2017 and played for a total prize money of nearly $1.5 million.

With players such as Peter Senior, Ian Baker-Finch and Rodger Davis making regular appearances throughout the year things are looking good for the 2018 season which kicks of with The Victorian Senior Masters in late January.
