Sydney’s Kevin Yuan has equaled the best finish of his professional career with a tie for fifth at the PGA TOUR Series-China’s Beijing Championship at Topwin Golf and Country Club.
The 36-hole leader after rounds of 68-65, Yuan shot 71 in the third round but made three birdies on his outward nine on Sunday to sign off with a 3-under 69 and a tie for fifth, four shots behind winner Richard Jung from Canada.
Tied for ninth in his previous start at the Shenzhou Peninsula Open, Yuan’s top-five finish was equal to his performance at last year’s Chongqing Kingrun Open and moves him up to 20th on the Order of Merit.
A regular in China for the past five years, South Australia’s Max McCardle also shot 69 on Sunday to finish just inside the top-20 with Tim Stewart the next best in a tie for 31st.
