Despite back to back bogeys to close out his tournament Peter Fowler has posted his second top five finishes in as many weeks on the European Senior Tour.
Entering the final round in a share of third and four shots behind leader Dennis Clark, Fowler struggled Sunday in more difficult scoring conditions and eventually posted a 2-over 74 to drop to T5.
Just eight players recorded sub-par scores in the final round, testament to the demanding conditions, though Fowler will likely still feel he let an opportunity slip.
The cheque for € 16,708 moved him up one place on the Order of Merit to seventh as the 58-year-old aims for a hat-trick of top five finishes in the season long money race.
Five times in his seven years on the over 50’s circuit Fowler has finished in the top five earners including in each of the last two seasons.
Mike Harwood was next best of the Australasians at 4-over and T20, Peter O’Malley a stroke further back and T23 while Greg Turner’s final round 77 dropped him 17 places down the standings to T30.
