""Fittingly hosted by Dixie Marshall, on International Women’s Day, the event saw industry representatives, participants, volunteers and supporters from all over Western Australia come together for a night of glitz and glamour to celebrate the exciting year of golf that 2018 produced.

The success and growth of the event over the past decade, where the entire golfing community is recognised for their outstanding achievements, can be attributed to the hard work put in by the four event stakeholders – the PGA of Australia, Golf WA, Golf Managers Association – WA and the Course Superintendents Association.

The evening kicked off with WA PGA Chairman Rob Farley welcoming six new graduates from to the PGA fraternity; Conor Brown, Dane Bowler, Correy Price, Zachery Adenen, Craig Reynolds and Ben Percival all successful graduated from the PGA Triainee Program to full membership of the PGA of Australia.

PGA Professional Awards Winners on the night included:

Hilary Lawler PGA Professional of the Year: Tristan McCallum (Sea View GC)

PGA Coach of the Year: Ritchie Smith (Melville Glades Golf Club)

PGA Pro-Am of the Year: ADH Club Car Joondalup Pro-Am

PGA Tournament of the Year: TX Civil & Logistics WA PGA Championship (Kalgoorlie GC)

This year the selection process for the 2018 Outstanding Golf Achievement Award was an easy decision.  After becoming the first female to be crowned the Greg Norman Medalist in 2018, the Committee looked no further than awarding Minjee Lee with the accolade.

In 2018 Minjee won both the Volvik Championship (LPGA) and the Victorian Open. She also finished the year ranked second on the LPGA money list and a career high of Number 3 in the Official Golf World Rankings. This along with 12 top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour in 2018 made Minjee Lee the standout recipient of the award.

Befitting of International Women’s Day, two more women were congratulated on their contributions to the game of golf in WA.

Dianne Tomlin joined the illustrious list of people to win the WA Golf Industry Recognition Award for her tireless efforts in the amalgamation of men’s and women’s amateur golf in Western Australia, forming Golf WA.

Michelle Miller was also awarded Employee of the Year in recognition of her role in the growth of the membership at Mt Lawley Golf Club.
