Born 1938. Son of a greenkeeper at Gosford Golf Club on the NSW Central Coast. Wife Annette. Children: Ian, Micheal, Andrew Hobbies: Fishing, wine collecting. Started his golf career in the pro-shop at Gosford Golf Club and learned to play by hitting balls until his hands bled. Superstitions included: only ever used odd-numbered balls and never cut his nails before a tournament for fear of upsetting the putting touch in his fingers.

Official Tour Victories: Won his first big tournament , the Australian PGA Championship in 1962. Won 25 tournaments and set 25 course records between February 1967 and September 1969 including the NSW Open at Royal Sydney, two NSW PGA Championships at Castle Hill, the Spalding Masters at Tarunga and NZ in 1968.

Highlights: Renowned as one of the greatest shot makers in Australian golf. Inducted as a life member of Australasian Tour in 1996. Won five Australian PGA Championships and the New Zealand Open. Is credited with winning over 100 tournaments and breaking over 80 course records in an outstanding career, more course records in Australia than any other golfer. In 1970, he finished with seven consecutive birdies for a 10 under par 60 in the NBN-3 tournament at Merriweather Golf Club in NSW, the lowest score he ever recorded in Australia. The same year he led the world's scoring averages from Jack Nicklaus with a phenomenal 70.21 for 110 rounds. His course records include 61 at Maitland, NSW, 63 at Hastings New Zealand, 64 at Victoria Golf Club ( 9 birdies, 9 pars), then the lowest score ever played in the Australian Open - 64 in the Texas Open, 65 at Royal Selangor, 66 at Royal Sydney and 66 at Kingston Heath. In 1971 at Coffs Harbour he surged to 11 under after only 12 holes. he finished with 63, nine under the card. In a span of 30 months between 1967-1969 he won 25 tournaments and set 25 course records. Represented Australia in three World Cups and won the Malaysian Open before settling on the NSW Central Coast.
