Highlights: 2009: As a non-member of the PGA Tour Lee is allowed to play up to 12 events, no more than seven of them on sponsors or foreign exemptions. If he earns enough money to be ranked in the top 150 based on the 2008 money list (about $700,000) then Lee can take up temporary status on the tour and accept unlimited sponsors' exemptions.

April 2009: Turned Professional immediately after the US Masters event (missed cut at Masters). Missed the cut at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April, his first USPGA Tour event as a pro. Collected his first payday as a professional in his second event and earned- $A37,000 - when he tied for 38th at the Quail Hollow Championship in May. Was tied for the lead at times during the third round, but finished poorly, and the final round was a struggle from start to finish as he carded a four-over 76 that included a double bogey at the final hole.

2009: March: Winner of the Male Amateur of the Year and Achievement of the Year awards at the 2009 NZ Sports Awards held in Queenstown. Honoured for his win at the U.S. Amateur in August 2008 (youngest ever winner) and his victory at the 2009 tri sanctioned Johnnie Walker Classic in February 2009 when he became the youngest ever winner on the Australasian and European Tours.

2009: February: Became the youngest ever winner on the Australsian and European Tours when he claimed the 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic as an 18 year old world No.1 ranked amateur. At 18 years and 213 days was one month younger than the previous youngest winner in Australasia, Aaron Baddeley, who claimed the 1999 Australian Open as an 18 year old amateur.

Showed why he is a star in the making when he claimed the dream victory, birdying his final two holes for a five-under-par 67 to edge out Japan’s Hiroyuki Fujita, Felipe Aguilar of Chile and overnight co-leader Ross McGowan of England by one stroke at The Vines Resort and Country Club in Western Australia.

Rocketed 404 places up the world rankings with his victory... from 562 to 158.
