In relentless conditions, Terrey Hills’ Golf Club Trainee Professional Andrew Thompson has extended his lead to three shots at the halfway mark of the Yamaha NSW/ACT PGA Trainee Championship at Riverside Oaks.

"AndrewThe new Bungool Course showed its teeth as 50 kilometer per hour Westerly winds caused havoc for players on the greens.

After dropping four shots in his opening three holes, Thompson quickly regained his composure to play the final 15 holes in 1-over.

“It was tough out there, the greens were firm and the wind made it really tricky but I’m really happy with the position I’m in,” said Thompson.

Thompson sits at two over par through two rounds after firing rounds of 70 (-2) and 76 (+4), three shots clear of Manly Golf Club Trainee Professional William Flitcroft.

Only two players in the 87 player field managed to break par during the second round with Edward Tamsett (The Coast) and Tyler Marotti (Leongatha) shooting 1-under 71.
