Round 1 of the 2015 Coca Cola Rich River Trainee Classic commenced this morning with the players teeing off in perfect conditions.  With the temperature expected to sit around 31 degrees with very little wind,  great scores were anticipated.

Spectators weren’t disappointed with early starter Brad Moules of Royal Adelaide Golf Club carding 6 birdies in a bogey free round of six under par sixty-six to hold the lead after Round 1.

Defending Champion Taylor Cooper confirmed he is once again in hot contention and looking for back to back wins sitting at sixty-seven, one shot behind Moules.

First year Trainees Robbie Hogan (NSW) and Michael Robb (VIC) showed some early form with an impressive score of sixty eight to finish the day tied for third alongside Year 3 veterans Nelson Turner (QLD) and Deyen Lawson (VIC).

Adam Burdett, Yarrawonga Trainee Professional and Rich River Golf Club Champion (2012)  praised the condition of the course stating "the greens were in the best condition he had seen throughout his years playing at the club."

First year Emma Ash from South Australia produced a solid performance, equal with the card seventy-two.  Ash is currently the leading female sitting equal twenty first however is excepted to climb given her performance today in her first ever round as a Trainee Professional.

Club members arrived today keen to watch some long hitters after a spectacular display by the competitors in the 2015 Doug Fraser Memorial  Longest Drive Competition held last night. Jarrod Coco of Eynesbury Golf Club in Victoria narrowly took out the title and the winner’s cheque of $500 with a drive of 305 metres.

With the mercury holding steady promising similar conditions for competitors in round 2, punters will be hard pressed to pick a firm favourite heading in to the final rounds.
