Blustery and cool conditions awaited players for 2nd round of the 28th Coca Cola Rich River Trainee Classic at the Rich River Golf Club today with opening round leader, Brad Moules maintaining his lead after an even par round left him at 6-under par and a 2-shot lead over Taylor Cooper and Ashley Blake.

Cooper, the defending Rich River Champion and current National Futures Champion, was tested early after a rare triple bogey on the 3rd hole, but steadied well to card three consecutive  birdies on holes 6, 7 and 8 to finish the front nine at even par, before recording a final second round score of seventy-three and 4 under overall. 

Blake, who is completing the third year of his PGA Traineeship at the Tocumwal Golf Club performed well in the testing conditions to be one of the few players to return an under par score in the morning field.  His second round score of seventy-one combined with the sixty-nine shot yesterday will definitely make him one to watch as he pursues Moules in tomorrow’s third round.

As the afternoon field headed onto the course, the weather settled to provide calmer conditions for the field, with Joshua Ingram recording the day’s best score of 6-under, sixty-six to also position himself to challenge Moules for the lead tomorrow.  Joining Ingram on an overall score of 3-under is Victorian, Deyen Lawson, an experienced tournament player who will also aim to make early inroads into his deficit from the lead. 

With warmer weather due for the Echuca-Moama area tomorrow, the 51 players who made the 36-hole cut should expect smooth, but fast  greens and perfect scoring conditions.
