Round one of the 2017 Coca-Cola Rich River Trainee Classic is underway with the players teeing off in perfect conditions.

""With the temperature expected to sit around 28 degrees, mild for the Moama region, and with light winds great scores were anticipated.

Seasoned Trainee Professional and four round specialist Robbie Hogan (NSW) again demonstrated why he was one to watch this week, carding six birdies and one bogey for a 5-under par 67.

Spectators weren’t disappointed with the golf on display; with today’s conditions favouring the 11th hole where several Trainees produced impressive eagles.

First year Trainee Frazer Droop (VIC) showcased his talent carding six birdies and two bogeys for a 4-under 68, placing him second on the leaderboard following the morning field, a position he would soon share with afternoon competitor Trent Smith (NSW).

Queensland Trainee Professional Briony Webb produced a solid performance, finishing with 2-over the card 74 placing her as the leading female competitor and in good contention ahead of round two.

Spectators will struggle to pick a firm favourite with many of the first year Trainees predicted to shake off the nerves and find their stride alongside their seasoned competitors.

Each Trainee will be looking to make their mark today to ensure they secure a position above the cut.

Club members will be sure to be out in force again, each following their favourite Trainee Professional.

No doubt eyes will be on big hitter Mitchell Judd (VIC) after he claimed the title of the 2017 Doug Fraser Memorial Longest Drive Champion last night, taking home the title and a $500 cheque with a winning drive of 293 meters.
