This week will see 116 PGA Trainee Professionals travel to the picturesque Riverside Oaks Golf Resort in Sydney’s North West to participate in the 2014 NSW/ACT PGA Trainee Championships.

After six successful years at Hawks Nest Golf Club, the event will move to its new home at Riverside Oaks for the next three years.

PGA Professional and Deputy General Manager of the club David Scott is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Trainees and he and his staff have been preparing the club and course for the event.

"We are excited for the week ahead and hope that the Trainees enjoy our club and its facilities as much as we do.

"The club and our members are delighted to welcome the Trainees and are looking forward to seeing some great results from the players."

The week kicks off with a sponsor’s pro-am on Monday, with official tournament play commencing at 8:30am on Tuesday.

Long Reef Golf Club PGA Trainee and defending champion Richard Gallichan is both mentally and physically prepared for the tournament and hopes to hold onto his title with another victory at this year’s event.

"The field is strong this year and will certainly prove to be a tough challenge," said Gallichan.

"I have been working hard leading up to this year’s event and trying to give myself every chance to defend so my game feels good heading into the tournament"

"The course is looking fantastic and I am excited at the opportunity to play at Riverside Oaks, I am quietly confident that I can give it a real shot at defending my title"

The field will be cut to 50 plus ties following the second round on Wednesday, with the remaining players battling it out until the conclusion of the tournament on Friday.

Spectators are welcome each day of the tournament, with tees times placed on pga.org.au daily.
