Wyong
Golf Club’s Jason Butt leads the Car Net Auctions NSW/ACT Trainee Championship
after an opening round of 2-under 70.

"JasonThe
day presented picture perfect conditions but players battled with the tight
layout and undulating greens.

Butt
got off to a solid start and made the turn at 2-under the card. He didn’t
falter on the home stretch recording just one bogey and one birdie.

"After
finishing 8th in this event last year I felt I had a good
understanding of a course plan that would work for me," said Butt.

"I
took a conservative approach off the tee and managed to hit a lot of fairways."

"I
made some great putts on my finishing holes and am very pleased with my round."

Sitting
just one shot behind Butt is NSW Golf Club’s Chantal Hodson while a further
shot back are Adriana Brent and James Corkill.

Heavy
fog and rain is predicted for round two.
