Webb shot a solid round of 1-under 71 thanks to two birdies and a lone bogey. Combined with his opening round 2-over 74 Webb holds a one shot lead over Adam Burdett heading into the third round.
Whilst the conditions were ripe for scoring, Webb and fellow international competitor John Bae from New Zealand were surprisingly the only two Trainee Professionals to shoot under par for the round.
Bae, from Templeton Golf Club in Christchurch, made a significant improvement today on his first round, carding the best score for the day, a 2-under 70. He is now T5 on the leaderboard.
While the international Trainees may have upstaged the Aussies on the leaderboard in the second round the highlight of the day belonged to Geraldton Golf Clubs' third year Trainee Andrew Crabb.
He aced the par-3 17th at Ballarat Golf Club. This is Crabb's second career hole in one and helped him to be T3 alongside Hayden Webb.
The second round cut was made at 13-over the card with 50 competitors making the final two rounds. Amongst them is female Trainee Professional Carly Beck from Bonville Golf Club (NSW) who produced another consistent round of 1-over 73 placing her inside the top-10 and in good stead for the remainder of the week.
