Victorian students Annie McLeod and Jai Nolan have been awarded for their fantastic projects on Professional golfers Karrie Webb and Jason Day.

Following a junior clinic at the Tocumwal Golf & Bowls Club during the Victorian & Tasmanian PGA Trainee Championship, the budding golfers were asked to present a project on a golfer on the Professional circuit they admire most.

Clearly inspired following the clinic, Annie and Jai wasted no time in compiling their entries, Jai chose former World Number 1 Jason Day and Annie was thrilled when she submitted questions to Australia’s best female golfer Karrie Webb who responded personally to the Sacred Heart Primary School student.

“Annie and Jai did a fantastic job on their projects, it was great to receive a number of quality entries to choose from but these two were particularly outstanding,” Nick Dastey, State Manager of the Victorian, Tasmanian and South Australian PGA, who was on hand to present the students their award at Tocumal Golf & Bowls Club.

“We were delighted to have so many kids at the junior clinic that also got to see our next crop of PGA Professionals with the Trainees in action on the course, hopefully a few of them have been inspired to get into golf”.

“I’d also like to thank the Tocumwal Golf & Bowles Club, the Berrigan Shire Council and the staff of both organisations, they’ve been a huge supporters of the Trainee Championship here and also junior golf in the region.”

For their efforts, Annie and Jai have won themselves a Victorian PGA Championship experience including accommodation, a role ‘inside the ropes’ walking with the leading players and holding the scoreboard as well as a meet & greet with the winner of the 2018 Victorian PGA Championship.

They’ve also scored a free lesson with a PGA Professional to tee off in the sport of golf.
