Golf City hails favourite deliverer of the year

Newly crowned MyGolf deliverer of the year and PGA Professional, Andrew Cartledge, describes coaching juniors as his ‘favourite part of the sport’.

""Now coaching 80 juniors per term at Ballarat’s Golf City driving range, Andrew couldn’t be happier with the regime.

“I work with 50 clubs in the Ballarat and Wimmera region and, for the last two years, Andrew’s program has consistently seen the highest number of kids participating,” said Tony Collier, regional development officer at Golf Victoria.

“Andrew knows the future of golf is at the grass roots level, where he started his own golf, and has always been very active in the junior golf area,” Tony said.

Andrew was awarded the honour at the 2017 Greg Norman Medal Dinner in front of more than 500 people and Greg Norman Medal winner Marc Leishman.

“I have been heavily supporting MyGolf for three years now,” Andrew said.

“I have embraced the concept of the program and the common goal to get more kids playing golf.”

With numbers continuing to rise, no one can doubt Andrew’s incredible ability to attract kids to golf and teach them the basics of the game.

“A lot of the MyGolfers I work with have the potential to be really good golfers,” Andrew said.

The MyGolfers in Andrew’s programs can play all year round – using the driving range throughout the year and practising on course when the weather is good.

“We like to get the kids out on course as much as we can for the experience. A lot of them want to move up to junior tournaments,” Andrew said.

“Andrew is very good at getting the kids to a level where they are able to play holes on the course,” Tony Collier added.

“Andrew’s program runs continuously, except during school holidays, which keeps the kids motivated for the full year.”

Andrew describes the award as an absolute shock and totally unexpected.

“I have to thank Tony Collier, who has provided a platform for me in recruiting juniors to the program,” said Andrew.

“I would also like to thank the owner at Golf City, Ben Roberts, who has made it easy for me to introduce large volumes of kids.”

Congratulations on your achievement Andrew, from the entire MyGolf team.
