The City of Mandurah and two of the region’s outstanding golf clubs have come together to announce the Steel Scene Peel Pro-Am, which will be played at Mandurah Country Club and The Cut from 25-26 May.

The City of Mandurah and two of the region’s outstanding golf clubs have come together to announce the Steel Scene Peel Pro-Am, which will be played at Mandurah Country Club and The Cut from 25-26 May.

""With a $22,000 prize purse on offer, it is a significant launch back into West Australia’s pro-am series of events.

"We are really looking forward to hosting the Professionals and amateurs alike back at Mandurah Country Club and The Cut," said Grant Shortland-Jones, the General Manager at Mandurah Country Club.

This new event is sure to attract some of Australia’s best up and coming Professionals. To be contested over two days in the form of a pro-am, the event will give visiting amateurs the opportunity to tee it up with a PGA Professional.

"It has taken some work behind the scenes, but we are very pleased to work with the City of Mandurah to bring new events to the table in this region," said Bill Kostandas, General Manager at The Cut.

The Mandurah Country Club and The Cut both have a history of hosting PGA tournaments, including the WA PGA Championship at The Cut in 2007 and 2008. In recent years, both venues have made a number of changes and both are excited about this new opportunity to test the Professionals.

"It is a promising time for our swing within the May-June pro-am series this year with the addition of this new event.

"We are lucky in this region to have fantastic venues and it’s been great to have these two clubs working together and offering this playing opportunity. We must also thank the input from the City of Mandurah for its strong support of this event. They played a significant role in bringing this event to fruition," said Josh Madden, WA/SA State Manager at the PGA of Australia.

"The City of Mandurah, with support from the Mandurah and Peel Tourism Organisation (MAPTO), prides itself on bringing significant sporting events to the region and the new Steel Scene Pro-Am supported by the City of Mandurah is no exception.  We look forward to welcoming all the professionals and amateurs to our city," said Mandurah Mayor Marina Vergone.

A strong field is expected to be on hand to contest the two days, including Oates Vic Open winner Michael Long, NSW PGA Championship winner, Jarryd Felton, and recent PNG Open winner, Brad Moules, are just some of the names that will be headlining the Steel Scene Peel Pro-Am.
