Brett Rankin secured his first win in the Mining Town Series this year, proving victorious at the Onsite Rental Group Dysart Pro-Am yesterday.

""With 10 Professionals sitting within three shots of the lead, Rankin posted the round of the tournament with a 6-under 66. Firing nine birdies, Rankin carded 10-under to claim a four stroke victory over Steven Jeffress.

"I hit the ball great today and when I made the turn in 5-under I knew I would be in with a chance. There were a few unsettling moments over the back-9, but thankfully I made a couple of late birdies which were good enough to get me across the line," Rankin said

"Even though conditions were easy for scoring, you never really feel comfortable around the Dysart course with poor shots generally leading to dropped shots on the scorecard."

Rounding out the top-5 were Jeffress on 6-under the card, defending champion Chris Gaunt and Mitchell Jacobson on 4-under and Nicholas Russell a further shot back on 3-under.

As the longest running event on the PGA Pro-Am Series Sunshine Swing the event drew 33 Professionals seeking glory at the 38th staging of the Onsite Rental Group Dysart Pro-Am.

With only two rounds remaining in the 2016 Onsite Rental Group Mining Town Series, Jeffress will head into the Moranbah Pro-Am with a two shot lead over Paul Hayden. Jeffress currently sits at 27-under after nine rounds as he looks to secure his maiden Mining Town Series win.
