""Heavy fog again greeted the field of 44 Professionals for the final round of the Moranbah Mini Earthmovers Pro-Am. Play was delayed for an hour until the murk lifted leaving the morning field needing to make up for lost time, Josh Main was the low score of the morning field, with a 4-under par 68.

When the afternoon field finally got underway it was all eyes on the leading two groups of Steven Jeffress, Paul Hayden, Brad Burns and Brett Rankin all of whom have been in contention throughout this year’s Onsite Rental Group Mining Towns Series.

Rankin and Burns were tied for the lead at 5-under par with three holes to play.  Rankin birdied the difficult 493m par five, fifth hole to take a one shot lead over Burns.  Burns finished bogey at the last, for a 4-under par 68 and equal second with Steven Jeffress who finished 1-under par 71.

“I was a little disappointed with how I putted today, I still hit the ball well and gave myself plenty of chances but I couldn’t convert with the putter," said Jeffress.

This is Brett Rankin’s fourth visit to the mining towns where he has had success in the past, “I have been fortunate enough to have won at both Middlemount and Dysart previously up here and I am pleased to pick up a win here," Rankin said.

"I played well and I was pleased with my round today, I putted really well which allowed me to make the most of my birdie opportunities.

“My goal for the day was to stick to a simple game plan of keeping the ball in play off the tee and hitting greens, which worked."

The Onsite Rental Group Mining Towns Series leaderboard after six rounds has Steven Jeffress extending his lead by just the one to 26-under par with a three shot lead over Brett Rankin who has closed the gap to 22-under par.  Paul Hayden is a further two shots back on 20-under.

The next stop in the Mining Towns Series will be the Middlemount Golf Club where play begins at 7.00am Wednesday morning for the Middlemount South Foxleigh Pro-Am,with the leading players teeing off in the 12pm field.
