Rankin claims top place at Boyne Tannum


Queenslander Brett Rankin has overcome a three shot deficit to claim the
Purcells Engineering/Capri Wholesale Boyne Tannum Pro-Am.

Queenslander Brett Rankin has overcome a three shot deficit to claim the
Purcells Engineering/Capri Wholesale Boyne Tannum Pro-Am.

"BrettRankin’s 26
hole tournament total of 10-under the card has seen him claim a one shot win
over New Zealander Ben Campbell and New South Welshman Lindsay Wilson.

Pleased to
have won the tournament, Rankin was surprised that is score was good enough to
secure a victory.

"At the start
of the day, I thought I would need to shoot 7-under to have any chance," said
Rankin.

"This is a
really unique event being played over 26 holes, and you need to get off to a
good start if you want to contend."

"The past few
weeks have been a great lead up to the Northern Territory PGA Championship, but
more importantly Japan Qualifying School in October."

Following
water supply issues in recent years, the Boyne Tannum Country Club is starting
to return to top condition.

The Club will
look to build on the success of this year’s pro-am as it aims to host the
Professionals again in 2017.  

The Sunshine
Swing of the PGA Pro-Am Series will next be in action on Friday at one of the
longest running events on the schedule; the Maryborough Pro-Am.
