Rain not enough to stop Holloway in Mackay

Round two of the New Pioneer Motors City of Mackay Open has finally been completed after torrential rain caused havoc on Friday.

With heavy rain continuing through the night flooding the Mackay Golf Course, it looked unlikely that round two would resume after play was called after only six-holes yesterday.""

With the tournament reduced to a 54-holes, Doug Holloway leads the way heading into tomorrow’s final round after carding rounds of 65 and 66 to be 11-under the card and two shots clear of Damien Jordan.

"It has obviously been a difficult few days for officials but it was great to get out here today and have a chance at completing 54-holes," said Holloway.

"Although it hasn’t been easy, having my family with me on this trip certainly helped during the rain delays."

"It has been a while since I have found myself in this position, but I am feeling good about my chances tomorrow."

The final round of the New Pioneer Motors City of Mackay Open has been moved to a shot gun start, with all players teeing off at 9:00am.
