Round one of the Better Homes Pro-Am teed off at the picturesque Port Macquarie Golf Club.
A good field of 62 professionals would compete for $23,000 in prize money.
The golf course was in perfect condition and Mitchell Brown would lead the morning competitors with a 4 under par 67.
But the star of day one was by far Matthew Millar. Millar carded a course record equaling 8-under par 63. He recorded a back-9 of 29 which included four birdies and an eagle.
“The course is always in great condition and it really suits my game. I’ve played well here in the past and I’m looking forward to tomorrow," said Millar.
He would lead a trio of golfers heading into the final day by an amazing four shots.
The closest to Millar were Mitchell Brown, James Nitties and Dale Brandt-Richards who recorded 4-under par 67’s
With 21 players even par or better the final day is sure to be entertaining.
The leaders will tee off at 11:45am today.
