Victorian Ryan Lynch playing for the first time around Mandurah CC has carded eight birdies and an eagle to set a new course record of 62 and lead the $33,000 Steelscene Pro-Am by one shot.

""“I’d heard from other players before coming here today how great this course was and hasn’t disappointed,” Lynch said.

“Of course you’d love any course you shoot 62 on but this is a great old school country club. It requires you to work your ball both ways and if you can you get a lot of birdie opportunities”

Fellow Victorian Ashley Hall is outright second continuing his great form following his win at Kwinana yesterday to shoot 8-under 63.

“You have to take advantage of this game when you’re hot and at the moment it feels great," Hall said.

Tied at T3 is Ben Ford (VIC) and Braden Becker (WA) after rounds of 7-under 64 while Queenslander Chris Wood is in fifth spot following his round of 6-under 65.

Players now move to the second round at Meadows Springs Country Club, a former host of the WA Open, followed by The Cut for the final round on Friday.
