Jordan goes wire-to-wire in PNG

Jordan withheld the early challengers over the opening nine, holding a four shot lead heading to the 18th hole. A double bogey wasn’t the ideal way to seal the win, though his final round 70 would be good enough for a 17-under the card total and a two shot victory over Simon Houston.

This is the biggest win of Jordan’s career and will no doubt boost his confidence heading into the South Pacific Export Radler PNG Open next week.

"It is a real honour to win here in Lae. This tournament not only has a big impact for the Lae Golf Club and community, but for the greater nation of Papua New Guinea," said Jordan.

"The week for me has really come down to the putter. Being able to make clutch putts in each of my rounds when it mattered most was certainly the difference, especially over the opening nine holes today. It’s great to get the win under my belt and really can’t wait to get to Port Moresby next week to try and take the double."

Jordan was challenged early by Josh Cabban and Simon Houston, unfortunately their challenge was short lived as Jordan remained steady throughout the final round.

"Damien played great all week and unfortunately for the field it wasn’t until his final hole that he made a mistake," said Houston.

"These two weeks are so much more than just golf tournaments, it’s a great opportunity for the 46 Professionals to give back to the population of Lae and promote the game that we all love. This is a big reason so many of us return each year and I am really looking forward to returning for many years to come"

Professionals will now make their way across to Port Moresby for the South Pacific Radler PNG Open. Josh Cabban will return as the defending champion and played as a PGA Tour of Australasia tournament.
