Jordan followed up his course record equalling round of 63, with a 6-under 65 to put him 14-under the card and two shots clear of Andrew Campbell.

Dale Brandt-Richards, Simon Houston and last year’s PNG Open Champion, Josh Cabban, are a further two shots back on 10-under the card.

Carding only one bogey over the opening two rounds of the tournament, Jordan is content with the position he finds himself in heading into the weekend.

"It has been great to see the putts falling over the past two days. I know this is going to have to continue over the weekend if I am going to keep the players behind me at bay," said Jordan.

"The course has really improved over the past 12-months especially the greens, which are running quicker and smoother than they were last year."

"The experience of playing here before is no doubt contributing to my good play this week, so hopefully I can continue to keep the blemishes off my card for another two days."

Campbell, Jordan’s nearest competitor, knows that the chasing pack will need to get off to a good start to put the pressure on Jordan early if they want to be in with a shot on Sunday.

"It is not going to be easy chasing down Damien, especially with how good he is playing at the moment, but golf is a funny game and anything can happen over the final two rounds. All I can do is focus on my own game and hopefully that will be good enough to be in with a chance on the back-9 come Sunday," said Campbell.

Round three of the Morobe Open tees off at 7:00am Saturday morning. The lead group including Jordan, Campbell and Simon Houston tee off at 12:30pm.
