Jeffress stays bogey free for Yamba lead


Steven Jeffress has shot an opening round of 7- under 65 in cool windy conditions to hold a two shot lead over the field after round one of the Crowe Horwath Yamba Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am.

""Jeffress was bogey free for his round, he managed seven birdies for the day including the 2nd, 4th,8th to close out the front-9 in 33, further birdies on the 10th, 11th, 14th and 18th for a back-9 total of 32.

“I hit the ball well all day,” said Jeffress.

“It’s so important to hit it straight around here, because there is a lot of trouble just off the fairway.”

A trio of players are tied for second place including Marco Zirov, Matthew Millar and Andrew Campbell after firing rounds of 5-under par 67.

The low round of the morning field came from Sydney based Professional Marco Zirov who fired a 5-under par 67 and is currently in a tie for second place.

“The highlight of my round was the 3 wood I hit into the par 5, 8th hole to 30 feet and I made the putt for eagle,” said Zirov.

The final round of the Crowe Horwath Yamba Pro-Am is underway, with the lead group including Steven Jeffress, Marco Zirov, Matthew Millar and Andrew Campbell teeing off at 12.00pm local time.
