Inaugural mixed pro-am a huge success

The inaugural Elanora Mixed Pro-Am which saw male and female Professionals team up was a huge success all round.

The inaugural Elanora Mixed Pro-Am which saw male and female Professionals team up was a huge success all round.

"CathyShane
Cochrane and Jordana Keaton have claimed the first ever Elanora Mixed Pro-Am,
shooting an impressive 6-underr 66 to win by two shots.

The
pair combined for seven birdies and a bogey to take out the first ever mixed
pro-am event sanctioned by the PGA which provides a unique playing opportunity
for both male and female PGA Professionals.

Elanora
Country Club Ladies Captain Janet Austin was a major driving force behind the
event and says, "It was a wonderful event and the members of Elanora really did
embrace this new concept."

It
was a memorable day for the winning pair whose story goes back fifteen years to
the year 2000.

Cochrane
was a Teaching Professional at Muswellbrook Golf Club in the Hunter Valley and
stumbled across Jordana at the age of just seven years old.

"We
had a great day out there and it is a really fun event which is still very
competitive," said Cochrane.

"The
golf course is simply amazing and I know all the players really are
appreciative of having Elanora open it’s doors and host this event for the
first time," said Keaton who graduated from the PGA Trainee Program in 2014.

In
second place was Martin Dive and Sarah Oh along with Josh Whitehouse and Teagan
Dunn with rounds of 4-under 68.

The
events marquee names Andre and Cathy Stolz couldn’t quite manage enough birdies
to take out the title but can certainly hold their heads high with a round of 1-over
73.

"After more than 20 years of marriage it’s the first
time we were able to compete together and we are still talking at the end so it
was a good day," said Andre Stolz
who is a former winner on the PGA TOUR and a five time winner on the PGA Tour
of Australasia.

"It’s great that we can get both men & women out to
compete alongside each other. It’s
a wonderful initiative by the PGA and the Elanora Country Club."

"Hopefully other
clubs may be able to follow in the footsteps of Elanora."

In
all, 26 Professional pairs took part in the event and were invited to a
five-star feast of the senses at the tournament luncheon which followed golf
and provided a wonderful end to a very successful event at Elanora.

The
NSW/ACT legs of the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series kicks off in the Riverina
Region next Friday when more than 80 players take to the fairways of the
Griffith Golf Club along with events at Yenda, Leeton and Wagga Wagga for one
of the most competitive regional swings in the country.
