Australian young gun Jake Higginbottom has carded a 4-under 67 to take a one shot lead at the Port Macquarie Better Homes Pro-Am.

Defending champion Anthony Summers fired 3-under 69 putting him in a three-way tie for second with Leigh McKechnie and Matthew Millar headding into the final round.

"The course is simply sensational and it was a challenge out there today with the wind really picking up so I was happy with the start but will need another low round tomorrow," said Summers.

The Port Macquarie Pro-Am has been one of the premier events on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series for a number of years and is regularly nominated for Country Pro-Am of the year.

Today’s conditions tested all playing abilities, including the local Port Macquarie members who were provided an opportunity to play alongside some of the best golfers in Australia, together with former PGA TOUR winner Nathan Green and former Japan Open winner Paul Sheehan.

Tomorrows final round will commence at 6:30am with the leaders teeing off at 12:00pm from both 1st and 10th tees.
