Harwood Fires in Devonport

Victorian Michael Harwood has claimed his fourth Tasmanian Senior Open Title after firing a blistering six under-par 66 in the final round.

Victorian Michael Harwood has claimed his fourth Tasmanian Senior Open Title after firing a blistering six under-par 66 in the final round.

Harwood’s round included five birdies and an eagle as he backed up his even par round of 70 in the first round. Going into the final round Harwood trailed overnight leader Simon Corbett by four shots before carding the low round of the tournament for a six under-par total and a four shot victory.

"I love the course and look forward to coming back to Devonport each year", Harwood said during the presentations.

Devonport turned on two picture perfect days with sunny skies and light winds, however, the course was the real shining light as all players marveled at the quality of the playing surfaces.

After his opening round of four under 66, Corbett struggled to get going on the final day as he slumped to a seven over-par round of 77 and an eventual tied fourth place finish.  The Tasmanian leg of the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour was still success for Corbett after he won last week’s event at Claremont Golf Club in Hobart.

Fiji’s Krishna Singh excelled in the fine conditions carding rounds of even par 70 and two under-par 68 to finish alone in second place with a two under-par total.

Australian golfing legend, Rodger Davis finished alone in third place after firing two rounds of one over-par 71 and a two over-par total.

Tasmanian amateur Robbie Berne fired rounds of 74 and 75 and a nine over-par total to claim this year’s low amateur medal.
