Cooler, windier conditions greeted players for the third round of the City of Mackay Open.

After winds subsiding in the afternoon the course becoming defenseless for the leaders with Gavin Flint continuing to set the pace after firing a 2-under 69, to extend his lead to 14-under and three stroke lead.

Chris Gaunt remains in touch with Flint to be in a tie for second with Aaron Wilkin, who fired the low round of the day – a 6-under par 65.

Flint will be looking to claim his first win on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series Sunshine Swing since Lismore in 2013.

"Today wasn’t quite as good as my opening two rounds, but I am really happy to have fought it out and extend my lead heading into tomorrow’s final round," said Flint.

"Although winning tournaments is never easy, I am looking forward to the challenge ahead and I will be taking plenty of confidence into tomorrow’s round from the way I have played this week."

The final round tees off at 7:00am tomorrow, with the final group of Gavin Flint and Aaron Wilkin teeing off at 12:10pm.
