Andrew Campbell has claimed the 33rd Vanuatu Open in dramatic style, getting up and down on the final hole to hang on for a one stroke victory.

""Heading into the final round with a one-stroke lead, Campbell fired a final round of even-par 72 to finish the tournament at 13-under par, one clear of Brad McIntosh.

Campbell surrendered his lead early on the back 9, with his three playing partners drawing level with six holes to play.

However it was the long hitting Campbell who took advantage, birdying the par 5 14th to draw clear and hang on for his first four round victory.

Over the four rounds Campbell annihilated the 16 par 5’s shooting four eagles and nine birdies for an aggregate of 15-under par for the supposed “three-shotters”.

“I drove it really well all week, particularly on the par fives. I don’t quite know what it was, I just felt comfortable,” explained Campbell.

The win will see Campbell’s status elevated on the PGA Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series Order of Merit as he continues to battle to secure a top-20 finish by season’s end and earn a ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia Category for 2018.

“My goal is to get back on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia. I’ve been working hard both here and in the Philippines.”

In tied third position were Sam Lee, DJ Loypur and Peter Martin at 12-under par.
