While bleak conditions greeted the start of the Onsite
Rental Group Mining Town Series players were itching to get off to a hot start
at the Blackwater Pro-Am.

"MarcusDefending champion Marcus Cain continued to dominate the
layout firing 5-under 67 to hold the overnight lead ahead of the second and
final round tomorrow.

"It was nice to continue on from my win here at
Blackwater last year with another good round today," said Cain.

"The course is playing well, so if I am going to have a
shot at defending I am going to need another low one tomorrow."

It’s an excellent start for the veteran Queenslander who
is hoping to win the Mining Town Series after finishing runner-up last year by
one shot to Tim Hart who is in Kalgoorlie for the PGA Tour of Australasia’s TX
Civil and Logistics WA PGA Championship.

"I haven’t played a lot of golf lately so I am fresh and
ready to go," added Cain.

"There is a lot of golf to be played over the next two
weeks but this is definitely the start I was looking for and hopefully I can
keep the form up throughout the Mining Town Series."

Sitting just a shot behind Cain are Paul Maiolo and Ed
Stedman while 2014 Fiji International champion Steven Jeffress is lurking
dangerously at 3-under the card and is joined by five other players including
Tour regular Brett Rankin.

The second and final round of the Blackwater Pro-Am tees
off tomorrow morning at 7:00am, with the lead group of Cain and Paul Maiolo
teeing off at 11:30am.
