Brown fires up as temperatures drop

"AnthonyDuring Sunday’s final
round, when temperatures dropped nearly 10 degrees in the space of an hour, Brown
caught fire early to pull away from the field.

Brown carded a final
round 5-under 67 for a two round total of 8-under the card to win by three
shots ahead of Queenslander Samuel Eaves and New South Welshman Grant Thomas
who both finished at 5-under the for the event.

Brown currently holds
the Mazda NSW Open title which he claimed last November at Stonecutters Ridge
Golf Club and is a member of the PGA TOUR China.

"I can’t believe I
started to well," said the Victorian.

"I was 5-under
through six holes and I think the cold took my mind of how well I started,"
he added.

Sunday’s final round saw
leaders tee off at 12:30 when the temperature dropped to 8.5 degrees in the
Southern region of Canberra.

‘I was expecting to see
snow on the mountains," said Anthony Summers who finished in fourth place
with rounds of 71 and 69.

The Murrumbidgee Pro-Am
is a premier event on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series with the event hosting
seven PGA Tour of Australasia winners in the past 12 months.

"We were delighted
to have the players back again and despite the cold weather, it was a fantastic
event," said Murrumbidgee General Manager and Tournament Director Sue
Terry.

The next stop on the
Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series is the Federal Pro-Am which will see another
elite field of Professionals tackle one of the best courses in the country
before the circuit heads to Queanbeyan on Tuesday and Gold Creek on Wednesday.
