"MitchellPerfect scoring conditions greeted players in the first
round and it was Mitchell A. Brown who capitalised on his morning tee time.

Brown fired 8-under 63 to hold a one shot lead at the end of
the day.

"I
drove the ball really well and holed the putts I needed to keep my round
going," said Brown who started to come into form last week.

"I
was playing well in Rockhampton last week but putts unfortunately didn’t quite
fall my way. I was happy to see that change today"

Sitting
just a shot behind Brown in the four round pro-am are Taylor Cooper, Darren
Beck, Brett Rankin, 2015 PGA Tour of Australasia player of the Year Matthew
Millar and Defending Champion Rory Bourke.

"I
can’t take my foot off the accelerator; there are so many players within only a
couple of shots of the lead," added Brown.

More
than holding her own amongst the men, Katelyn Must is the leading lady on
4-under 67 and tied 8th on the leaderboard.
