For the third year running Hawks Nest golf club hosted a strong field of 57 professionals.
The Hawks Nest golf club who has hosted the NSW/ACT Trainee Championships is a true test of golf. The championship layout was in magnificent condition and the greens were some of the best players had played on all season.
Three players in the morning broke par. Callan O’Reilly who had won the Muree Pro Am two days earlier, David van Raalte and Joe Darcy all posted 1-under par 71’s.
As the wind eased through the day Brad McIntosh made the most of the conditions by shooting a 4 under par 68 to take victory.
McIntosh still holds the record of being the only player to shoot 59 in an ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia event.
“I haven’t played as much golf in the last few years but it’s always nice to play well. This is only my second time here and the golf course is fantastic. If my body can hold up I’ll look to play more in the back end of the year," said McIntosh
Jake Higginbottom who was joint winner at Nelson Bay the day prior kept up his good form with a 3-under par 69 which would see him finish runner up.
Rounding out the top five were Leigh McKechnie, Matthew Steiger and Taylor Cooper with 2-under par 70’s.
The Ladbroke NSW/ACT Pro Am Series will head North with the Kew Pro Am on Sunday.
