Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club member Cory Crawford has teamed up with good friend and fellow Tour Pro Aaron Wilkin to claim the coveted QLD PGA Foursomes Championship.

Aaron Wilkin and Cory CrawfordWith an honour role to match that of any major tournament played across Australia, Crawford and Wilkin overcame a two shot deficit, after their opening round 2-under 68, closing with 67 in the afternoon to claim an emphatic three shot victory.

Mitchell Jacobson and Paul Hayden tied for second with R.J. Caracella and Quinton Howe, while the defending champions Michael Sim and Matthew Ballard never really got going finishing in a tie for 13th.

The win was timely for both Crawford and Wilkin, with the pair preparing for the Fiji International which tees off next Thursday.

"We were actually not planning on playing the Foursomes this year with all the recent golf we have both been playing, so I am pretty happy right now after receiving Cory's phone call on Monday," said Wilkin.

"Although foursomes is a tough format it is one of the most enjoyable events we play all year. We both played pretty well, with our playing partners really pushing us hard over the closing 18 holes."

In the Senior PGA Foursomes Championship, John Kirchner and David Merriman fired one of the low rounds of the afternoon, and with their 1-under 69, claimed a three shot win over Greg Rix and Peter Senior who was playing his first competitive round since recent shoulder surgery.

While there were plenty of battles playing out across the golf course, one that may not have been as close as expected was the QLD Trainee Foursomes Championship.

Yamba PGA Trainee Louis Brown teamed with Mt Warren Park's Nicklaus Rogers to claim an emphatic win, after firing rounds of 76, 70.
